Golden retrievers originate from Scotland. The average weight of a male is 29-34kg and females range from 25-29kg. Their average height is 56-61cm for males and 51-56cm for females. They have a straight coat and are usually any shade of gold or cream. Their average life span is 10-12 years.


Golden retrievers are used as gun dogs to fetch animals shot by hunters they are also popular dogs used for people with disabilities such as blindness. It is also the third most popular family dog in the USA.
